Dragunas Gorman Repurposing the Drum House With the opening of the Krapf Gateway Center in 2019, the Admissions department was relocated to the newest building on campus, leaving the oldest building vacant — the beautifully-restored Drum House. Formerly the President’s home for 25 years, the Drum House was renovated into the admissions department hub in 1987 and served the department for more than 30 years. A Federalist era house, built in 1857 and first occupied by a Presbyterian parson, the Drum House features one ground level office, along with a welcoming parlor and a full dining room, six offices on the second floor, and a third floor that has an open floor plan, perfect for small team gatherings. The decision to use the Drum House for athletics gives dedicated offices to each of the school’s 19 NCAA sports, as the lacrosse, softball, field hockey, cross country, tennis, and baseball offices are located in the department’s new digs. “The versatility that the Drum House provides is incredibly exciting for the programs that inhabit it,” Clark said. “The welcoming area and other aspects of the first floor are great for hosting recruits, and the office space has become desperately needed as we’ve added eight new full-time positions in the past decade. This move has helped address several day-to-day issues.” 22 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2021 SUMMER MAGAZINE
