“It has been nice to see how UPMC Field has already transformed the last couple years with the new turf, a new scoreboard, and the addition of the lights,” director of athletics Mike Clark said. “Our assistant director of athletics for the Warrior Club, Glenn Smith, has done a fantastic job securing both corporate and private donors for this project. We are excited to see the continued transformation to the home field for more than a third of our student-athletes.” Naming opportunities start at $5,000. If you are interested in supporting a named space within the Shangraw Athletic Complex, please contact Glenn Smith II ’07, director of athletics development & Warrior Club and assistant director of athletics, at 570-321-4455 or smithg@lycoming.edu. Field Hockey and Baseball officially announced With approval from the Lycoming College board of trustees, the College will expand its varsity athletic offerings with the addition of baseball and field hockey during the 2022-23 academic year, President Kent Trachte announced on Dec. 17, 2020. “This decision to add baseball and field hockey to the intercollegiate sports program reflects Lycoming College’s commitment to educating the whole person — mind, body, and spirit,” Trachte said. “It will also enable the College to attract more talented student-athletes to our community.” The two sports are the first to be added to Lycoming’s athletic offerings since men’s and women’s lacrosse were started in 1997, increasing the school’s NCAA sports offerings to 19. Lycoming baseball will take the field for the first time since 1971, and field hockey will take the field for the first time since 1992. LYCOMING COLLEGE ATHLETICS 21 www.lycoming.edu
