Kenyon Oliveri New faces everywhere Over the course of the past year, the athletic department has welcomed aboard four new head coaches, including swimming coach Andrew Dragunas, Ph.D., men’s lacrosse coach Brendan Gorman, field hockey coach Allyson Kenyon, and baseball coach Rick Oliveri. “We have been incredibly fortunate in the kinds of talented people we have attracted through our coaching searches during the pandemic,” Clark said. “We have been able to hire four really highly qualified head coaches, who all bring really exciting strengths to the fold, and they all happen to be fantastic people. We couldn’t be more excited about the future of our swimming, men’s lacrosse, field hockey, and baseball programs with Andrew, Brendan, Allyson, and Rick on board.” Dragunas came to Lycoming after four seasons as an assistant coach at Division III institutions SUNY Oswego and Vassar College. A Canadian Junior National Champion in the 200-meter butterfly, Dragunas has worked with Canadian Junior and Senior national team members while working on his Ph.D. in biomechanics from Western University. Early in his time at Lycoming, he has used video analysis and an intensive training program to develop the team’s swimmers. A native of Point-Claire, Quebec, Dragunas was a four-year letterwinner at East Carolina University, where he set a school-record in the 200-yard butterfly. Gorman came to Lycoming after serving as a Division III head coach for 11 years at Babson and Elmira Colleges, coming to Williamsport with 95 career wins. Gorman has led his teams to 10 winning seasons, a regular-season conference title, and five appearances in a conference championship game. He also has worked both as the director of youth development for the Italian National Team and as the defensive coordinator for the Irish National Team. A native of Springfield, Va., Gorman played collegiately at Hartwick College. Kenyon joins Lycoming after 18 years as the head coach at Bridgewater College, where she racked up more than 150 wins and won an Old Dominion Athletic Conference title in 2015. She led Bridgewater to a .500 or better finish in nine straight campaigns from 2008-2016, guiding the team to 12 or more wins three straight seasons from 2013-2015. In all, Kenyon coached 19 first-team all-conference selections, 17 second- team all-conference picks, 41 third-team/honorable mention awardees, four all-region selections, a conference player of the year, an All- American, and a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner during her time at Bridgewater. A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Kenyon was a four-year letterwinner in field hockey and swimming at Juniata College. Oliveri comes to Lycoming with 12 years of Division I experience, having most recently served as the pitching coach at George Washington University for five years, also serving as the team’s academic and recruiting coordinator. While with the Colonials, he helped raise the team’s GPA to above 3.00, and the team’s 2019 signing class was ranked in the top 100 in the nation. His pitching staffs also showed improvement, with the 2020 staff posting a 3.26 ERA, second-best in the A-10. Prior to George Washington, Oliveri worked at Monmouth and Radford Universities and earned his MBA from Lincoln Memorial University. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Oliveri was a three-year starter and two-year captain at the University at Buffalo. 23 www.lycoming.edu
