Shangraw Athletic Complex Enhancement Project Officially announced in the summer of 2020, the $3 million Shangraw Athletic Complex Enhancement Project will transform UPMC Field, the home of the College’s field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer teams, into one of the finest multi- purpose venues in the Northeast, while also allowing for an outdoor viewing plaza to enhance David Person Field, the football field. The enhancement project already commenced with a new turf surface that was installed in 2019 and an outdoor light-structure system that was turned on for the first time in February 2021. The next phase for the project will include creating a 400-seat stadium with a suite and viewing patios as well as locker rooms, offices for coaches, an athletic training room and public restrooms, and the foundation for the viewing plaza. future into the hile the pandemic may have paused Lycoming’s on-field athletic activities for nearly 10 months, behind the scenes, several key initiatives driven by the College’s athletic department helped prepare it for the next several years. Included in that period was the official announcement of the continued fundraising to revamp the multi-purpose UPMC Field, the resumption of field hockey and baseball as varsity athletic programs during the 2022-23 academic year, the acquisition by the athletic department of the Drum House for its expanding stable of full-time coaches, and the hiring of four new head coaches, nearly a quarter of the department.
