22 MATHEMATICS (7-12) Students seeking certification to teach mathematics should, as soon as possible, consult with the education department faculty and make their intentions known to their math department advisor, so that all requirements can be met before the Professional Student Teaching Semester. Please work closely with your math advisor and your education advisor to ensure that all required courses in both areas are completed. Course Requirements: Successful completion of 6 credits in English (three in composition, three in literature) and six credits in mathematics. Note: The requirements for the mathematics major subsume the six required mathematics credits. Successful completion of a major in mathematics – See catalog for specific requirements. Successful completion of Math 230 Geometry and Statistics for Teachers, offered alternate years.
