21 ENGLISH (7-12) Students seeking certification to teach in English should, as soon as possible, consult with the education department faculty and make their intentions known to their English department advisor so all requirements can be met before the Professional Student Teaching Semester. Please work closely with your English advisor and your education advisor to ensure that all required courses in both areas are completed. Course Requirements: Successful completion of a major in English – see college catalog for specific English department course requirements listed under either Literature (ENGL) or Creative Writing (CRWR). For Literature track English majors (ENGL), ENGL 336 must be chosen from the ENGL 336 or ENGL 335 option; ENGL 219 must be chosen as the “one elective beyond composition. For Creative Writing majors (CRWR), ENGL 336 must be chosen from among the 300-level literature courses; ENGL 219 must be taken in addition to the CRWR major requirements.
