20 CHEMISTRY (7-12) Students seeking certification to teach in chemistry should, as early as possible, consult with the education department faculty and make their intentions known to their chemistry department advisor so all requirements can be met before the Professional Student Teaching Semester. Course Requirements: Successful completion of a major in Chemistry – see college catalog for specific requirements for a BA* or BS in Chemistry including the appropriate science seminar. *It is highly recommended that candidates for education certification pursue the BA degree in chemistry, rather than the BS.
