His athletic journey started at John Kennedy College in Mauritius, where he became one of the school’s top overall medalists, collecting more than 28 medals across track and field, specializing in the 100m and 200m. Under the Fédération Luxembourgeoise d’Athlétisme, Harshil became the first Mauritian athlete registered in his sprint category, competing in the 100m, 200m, and 300m while representing Mauritius within the Luxembourg athletics circuit. He ran in Luxembourg and France while competing for C.S. Luxembourg/ CAL-Spora. His athletic profile starts with being the first Mauritian athlete under the Federation, placing second in regional 60m indoor competition, reaching an estimated peak sprint speed of up to 37 km/h, and competing in Luxembourg’s official national 5K championship at the Route du Vin, placing 25th in senior men. When he arrived at Lycoming in 2015, there were two Mauritian students. Since then, the Mauritian community has grown to more than Kaitlyn (Haefner) ’24 and Shane Lau ’23 married on Dec. 13, 2025, surrounded by their friends from Lycoming! 20 students, which makes him proud to have been part of that beginning journey. He remains grateful for the professors, coaches, mentors, and friends who helped him grow. His time at Lycoming, including his involvement with Tau Kappa Epsilon, helped shape his ongoing leadership, resilience, and ambition.
