Tom Lurie ’13 studied digital media communication at Lycoming College with the aim to be behind the camera in the film industry. After graduation, he moved back to Maryland where he continued rescue work with Ocean City Beach Patrol, dedicated to ocean life and beach safety. With every free moment, he travelled and pursued freelance photography and video work, and in 2015, he began working with VIVA Creative, the top media production company in Washington, D.C., producing events and content for the world’s biggest brands. He is currently senior video producer and director of photography. Lurie has been on the road nearly every other week, either behind the camera as director, producer, or director of photography, and in the studio. He has filmed in roughly 20 states, as well as across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and has worked for such highprofile clients as American Express, Audi, Marriott, Mary Kay, and Sheetz. His most recent project involves a five-part docuseries chronicling the relaunch journey of Norwegian Cruise Line’s 17-ship fleet following the suspension of service during the pandemic. “I’ve been here for six years, and the work continues to be exciting,” Lurie says. “You never know what the next project will be, and the team here is amazing.
