Ryan Adams, Ph.D., department chair and associate professor of anthropology and archaeology, was named to the board of directors for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, an organization that serves 27 counties in Central Pennsylvania to fight hunger, improve lives, and strengthen communities. Associate professor of English Meghan Andrews, Ph.D. , has published “Shakespeare the Formalist: Reading and Rewriting John Marston in the Poets’ War” in the peer-reviewed journal Texas Studies in Literature and Language . This essay examines the influence that Shakespeare's contemporary John Marston had on Shakespeare's plays Twelfth Night and Troilus and Cressida, arguing that both are more indebted to Marston than has previously been recognized and countering more traditional narratives that see the influence as running solely from Shakespeare to Marston. The globally recognized film “Under the Walnut Tree” by Leah Bedrosian Peterson, M.F.A. , chair and professor of film and video arts, was one of only 100 films selected to screen out of 1,000 international entries juried by the Demetera Film Festival. Due to the pandemic, the festival based in Paris, France, was hosted virtually on YouTube this past March 2021. John Capo , assistant professor of communication, has been inducted into The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, an assembly of leading professionals dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Additional members include professionals from Microsoft, Samsung, MTV, Spotify, and others. Lori Curtindale, Ph.D. , assistant professor of psychology, published an article, “The role of event rate, temporal expectancy, and sensory modality in continuous performance of children and adults,” in Attention, Perception, & Psychophysics . Robb Dietrich , senior director of major and planned gifts, has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College of Financial Services. The CAP® program provides the knowledge and tools needed by professionals in the nonprofit and financial services fields in order to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives and also meet their estate planning and wealth management goals. Murray Hanford , art director for marketing and communications, is the recipient of several Educational Advertising Awards sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report, the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. Entries for Lycoming’s President’s Report, Admissions Calendar, and Admissions Folder earned Gold Awards, while the Admissions Viewbook garnered a Merit Award. Sarah Holstein, Ph.D. , associate professor of psychology and neuroscience, published a paper entitled “Caffeine Increases Alcohol Self-Administration, an Effect that is Independent of Dopamine D2 Receptor Function” in the peer- reviewed journal Alcohol . This paper, which was published with two student co-authors, Gillian Barkell ’19 and Megan Young ’20, details the impact of caffeine on alcohol drinking and motivation for an alcohol reinforcer in rats. Mary Morrison, Ph.D. , assistant professor of biology, co-authored a series of three publications on integrating research into the undergraduate curriculum in the Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education . 28 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2021 SUMMER MAGAZINE
