The men’s basketball team, buoyed by a school- record group of 11 freshmen, won the MAC Commonwealth title for the third time in five years, finishing 20-9 overall. The men’s soccer team reached the MAC Commonwealth Championship game for the sixth time in seven years. The Warriors finished the season 13-7 and seventh-year head coach Nate Gibboney became the fastest in program history to reach 100 career wins. The volleyball team posted a 5.5-match improvement to finish 18-13, winning their first postseason game in five years in the first round of the MAC Commonwealth Championship. The women’s basketball team advanced to the postseason for the fifth straight year and reveled in its school-record breaking seventh straight winning season. The women’s soccer team posted an 8.5-game improvement, the third-best in Division III, while posting a 10-8-1 overall record. Lycoming’s wrestlers enjoyed another strong season, finishing third at the MAC Championships. Hadyn Swartwood ’20 won his third MAC title at 174 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career, although the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the pandemic-shortened spring season, Hannah Summerson ’20 set program records in career combined (93) and doubles (44) wins in women’s tennis. Kayla Kline ’20 finished her career with the program-best .457 batting average and 193 total bases in softball. On top of all that, the Warriors produced 152 MAC Academic Honor Roll selections, and the department collectively raised $800 for charity. 8 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2020 PRESIDENT’S REPORT/FALL MAGAZINE
