90 Dr. Paul Fochtman , now superintendent at the prestigious Frankfurt International School in Germany, has received the highly esteemed 2018 International Superintendent of the Year Award presented by the Association for the Advancement of International Education. This is the premier organization for international school leadership. The award is given annually to a single head of school who has exemplified outstanding leadership and service among international schools worldwide. Paul was recognized at the United Nations in February, before presenting to other leaders in education in New York City. He will attend a Washington, D.C., special recognition event later in the year. Paul credits Lycoming College for instilling a passion for education, leadership, and service to others. A special thanks to Mehrdad Madresehee, Joe Mark, the KDR brothers, and Kirk Bower for inspiring him. Lycoming birds of a feather flock together: Alumnae create and publish children’s book “Birds of Paradise,” written by Pamela Wight ’74, illustrated by Shelley (Luebberman) Steinle ’76, and published by Borgo Publishing, which is owned by Easty Lambert-Brown ’74, was honored as a finalist in the “Children’s Picture Book: Hardcover Fiction” category for the 2018 International Book Awards. You will have the opportunity to read more about these alumnae and their collaboration on this book in the Spring 2019 issue of LC Magazine . 93 Craig Munns completed his doctoral studies in psychology at Northcentral University. With the goal of helping veterans, his research focused on how individual belief systems provide meaning and allow for posttraumatic growth or resiliency in the face of combat experiences in service members deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001. His dissertation was entitled, “Religious Belief, Authenticity, Posttraumatic Stress, and Existential Well-Being in Combat Veterans: A Correlation Study.” Sandra Richmond , DNP, MS, RN, CSN, was appointed to the position of dean for the School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Sandra has been employed at Penn College since 2012 and has previously held positions as instructor, director of nursing, and assistant dean of nursing. She was also a contributor for the recently released text, “Essentials for Nursing Practice” by Potter, Perry, Stockert, and Hall. The chapter is titled Urinary Elimination and is the 9th edition, and Sandra has agreed to be a contributor for the 10th edition. 06 Alexis Bortle has accepted a position as a program assistant with the Roper Center for Public Policy Research at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. This role coincides with her current position as a New York state licensed real estate salesperson with Re/Max Advantage in Horseheads, N.Y. Dr. Steven Hawley and colleague Dr. Christine Nolan recently volunteered as waiters at the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Celebrity Waiter Night held at the Peter Herdic House in Williamsport. 07 Little League® International recently announced the promotion of Dustin Solomon to senior director of marketing for Little League Baseball and Softball. A member of the Little League staff since 2011, Dustin has served as director of retail licensing and merchandise operations since 2015. 97 Jessica (Bixler) Bower earned the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Wilkes University. Her scholarly project focused on debriefing during simulation in nursing education. She presented her research at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Nursing Education Research Conference in Washington, D.C., in April.
