14 BUSINESS & COMPUTER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (PK-12) Students seeking certification in Business, Computer Information Technology should, as soon as possible, consult with the Education department faculty and make their intentions known to their business department advisor so all requirements can be met before the Professional Student Teaching Semester. Please work closely with your business advisor and your education advisor to ensure that all required courses in both areas are completed. Course Requirements: Successful completion of a major in business. Education Program Core Courses: EDUC 215 and 225 (each 2 credits and taken in the same semester) EDUC 348 (non-credit: taken the semester prior to student teaching; $525 lab fee) SPLED 230 and 334 PSY 110 and 120 ENGL 106 or 107 and an ENGL literature At least 6 credits of MATH numbered 101 or above. Specific Certification Area Courses: PK-12 Certification EDUC 339 (fall only) EDUC 338 (spring only) Major area courses, including the following to meet PDE competencies: The Professional Semester (16 Credits) EDUC 461 Methods of Classroom Management (1 credit) EDUC 462 Principles and Applications of PK–12 Assessment (1 credit) EDUC 465 Professional Semester of Student Teaching (8 credits) SPLED 447 Professional Development for the Inclusive Setting (6 credits) Some certification areas require additional pedagogy courses for certification: i.e., MLS 338, ARTH 310, MUS 340, MUS 341, BIO 000, CHEM 000, and PHYS 000.
