ART PK-12 Students seeking certification to teach art should, as soon as possible, consult with the education department faculty and make their intentions known to their art department advisor so that all requirements can be met before the Professional Student Teaching Semester. Please work closely with your art advisor and your education advisor to ensure that all required courses in both areas are completed. Course Requirements: Successful completion of a major in art, as stated in the College catalogue. This includes the Art Foundation Program and Generalist. The generalist art major should be taken by those students who are seeking teaching certification in art. In addition, this area of specialization is recommended for those students also majoring or minoring in psychology with a possible future career in art therapy.
