Jessee BERMUDEZ ’20 hen Jessee Bermudez ’20 was a freshman at Lycoming, he would DJ at parties on campus and had his friends, Moses and Gavin, capture footage. After a party ended, he’d walk to the editing lab near Skeath Hall. “I’d lock in and create these fun, hype-recap videos to share on social media and across campus, generating excitement for the next weekend,” he recalled. “I was in love with the reactions people had after watching a video I pieced together.” Bermudez eventually declared a major in digital communications with aspirations of becoming a filmmaker — to be a storyteller and spark a conversation that would inspire an idea for someone else to take and push forward. As a child, Bermudez played piano and soon after moved on to drums. “My background in music is a cheat code for me as a video producer and editor. Musicianship forces you to stay on beat and to always be ready to think on the fly in case of a solo. By the time I was working as a junior video producer at Propeller Consulting LLC in 2021, I was able to get adjusted quickly.” Today, he works at Omnicom Production as a full-time video producer and editor. “My time at Lycoming, without a doubt, prepared me to be where I am by building professional mentorships with amazing artists like Prof. Leah Peterson. She has always pushed me to never settle for less and to be intentional with the decisions I make behind and in front of the camera.” Bermudez’s creative process is simple. “My foundation before starting any video or film project is a good song, one that fits the theme. Once I have that, I'll edit the footage and sound design around that. I enjoy the moment when an idea in my head comes to life, since most of the time it doesn't. But when it looks and sounds exactly how I want it, it makes the moment so much sweeter.” He aims to help people zoom out from time to time, because he realizes that everyone is going through something, heavy or small. “What I hope to do with my work is pull them out of any overthinking or stress for enough time to reset and maybe have more of an open mind to their days moving forward.” Learn more about Bermudez and his work at www.instagram.com/jswanent. 36 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2026 SPRING MAGAZINE
