s his 80th birthday neared, Larry Snyder ’68 chose to forgo gifts and instead support future leaders in accounting and finance by establishing scholarships to help ease the cost of tuition and enable students to achieve their goals. “My involvement through 11 years serving on the President’s Leadership Council underscored the excellence of Lycoming College and the importance of giving back in both time and treasure,” Snyder said. Larry had an interest in accounting in high school, and when he met with the counselor, they agreed that based on his high school achievements, accounting would be a good path. “Little did I know at the time that Lycoming had one of the finest small college programs around,” said Snyder. “Professor Logan Richmond had great linkages with the major accounting firms, which helped his students become gainfully employed. I landed at Price Waterhouse, now PWC, and my accounting career flourished. I also spent 17 years with Black & Decker in accounting and corporate finance before buying the first of two businesses and becoming an entrepreneur.” Larry is owner and CEO of Imperial Stone Paving Corporation, founded in 1991. Larry encourages students to pursue this major with a passion, adding they will have some truly rewarding experiences and the opportunity to create a positive economic life. “Accounting opens the door to so many opportunities within the field, in finance, and entrepreneurship.” “Accounting has been an integral part of our lives and careers and has contributed to our success,” Snyder shared about himself and his wife, Christine, also an accountant. “Chris was a partner at PWC, as well as a trustee at another small liberal arts college, so she understands and supports the needs of students.” It is because of their passionate support for higher education that the couple established the Larry ’68 and Christine Snyder Endowed Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing accounting majors at Lycoming College in honor of Larry’s birthday this year.
