2021 Lycoming College Summer Magazine
From the Presiden was a year like no other. Driven by our deep commitment to maintaining the integrity of the residential collegiate experience, the administration and faculty reinvented nearly every facet of college life: classrooms, residence halls, dining, athletics, music, theatre, admissions events and tours, alumni affairs, the workplace, and more. In addition, we developed our own COVID testing program, a plan for quarantining and isolating students, a system for contact tracing, protocols for quarantining employees, and a Remote Education Resource Center to support children of employees. The herculean effort of the faculty and staff meant that more than 90 percent of Lycoming students completed two semesters in residence and attended in-person classes. While the protocols made the experience less than ideal, there is no doubt that our students were more engaged and learned more than those attending other colleges remotely. As the semester came to a close, students and their parents frequently expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to be on campus and physically in classes. 2 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2021 SUMMER MAGAZINE (center) President Kent Trachte and Sharon Trachte, Ph.D., pose with the Class of 2021 Officers (L to R) Ricardo Gonzales, secretary; Arnold Chew Jr., treasurer; Annabelle Brinkerhoff, president; and Alanna Tarbox, vice president
