Philosophers and mystics ponder the mystery of these flashes, and Pamela Wight features them in her new book, “FLASHES OF LIFE.” Pam is happy to announce the publication of her flash short stories that include family and friends, love, and life’s challenges in a collaborative effort with Easty Lambert-Brown (publisher). Her “Flash Memoir” shares the sparks of the extraordinary that occur in our everyday life. Each short story highlights how life transports and enthralls us in all its confusing, amusing, challenging, and astonishing ways. “FLASHES OF LIFE” is a page-turner that keeps you in your seat, smiling and nodding your head: YES, the ordinary is extraordinary. The book includes eight sections: Looking in the Mirror, Fun Family Drama, Life Is Funny, For the Dogs, The Extraordinary Ordinary, Time Off, Relationships, and Musing. The 140-page softback is available from Borgo Publishing (www.borgopublishing.com), and the e-book is available on Amazon.com. 83 Carlton Johnson won the 2020 Thomas Burnett Swann Poetry prize for a poem entitled “The swallow” based upon his first swallow study. The North Museum typically has exhibits and programs for people of all ages, with special programs dedicated to STEM education. During the pandemic, when museums were required to close, the North Museum continued to support the community. They developed boxed STEM experiments for children and created virtual STEM educational programs that were accessible throughout the country. Looking to support the community, they started a virtual school area for students from the Milagro House, which supports homeless women and their children. The women either had to work or attend training classes during the pandemic, and therefore could not homeschool their children. The North Museum created a place to host “virtual school” for 16 children from the Milagro House. The children were socially distanced and followed CDC regulations while they were able to attend virtual school in the North Museum. The committee is looking for Lycoming Alumni in the Lancaster area who are in STEM fields and would be interested in learning how they or their company could support the North Museum. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Michael at mshiffty@gmail.com or (717) 419-8463. 79 KDR brothers from the class of 1979 gathered recently at an event in Hellertown, Pa.
