Lycoming College 2020 President's Report/Magazine
t’s Desk on UPMC Field while the already installed stadium lights will lengthen the practice day. Lycoming has a rich history of music, not just as an academic major or minor, but as a co-curricular activity for students studying a myriad of academic programs. More than 150 students engage in music making on campus annually. The trustees have authorized moving to the next stage for a new $5 million music facility on the southeast corner of campus that will connect to the Mary Lindsay Welch Honors Hall. The 14,000 square foot building will house a signature rehearsal and recital space, classrooms, soundproof practice rooms, and offices for music faculty. Gift commitments totaling $4 million have already been received, and with continued fundraising success, this building will open in fall 2022. As we navigate through the end of this pandemic, we continue to invest and position Lycoming College for the next decade. The most recent projects build upon two centuries of excellence and will enable the College to compete successfully for excellent students who show great promise. This noble work is not possible without your loyalty and generosity. Lycoming College changes lives and our graduates can change the world. Thank you for providing the foundation for this transformative power. As we navigate through the end of this pandemic, we continue to invest and position Lycoming College for the next decade. Sincerely, Kent C. Trachte, Ph.D. President 3 www.lycoming.edu
