Lycoming College 2020 President's Report/Magazine
Connecting virtually with alumni Alumni & Reunion Weekend and Homecoming Weekend are two events when many alumni look forward to returning to the Lycoming campus. Sadly, both in-person celebrations were cancelled this year, along with several regional events, but with swift action, the use of technology, and a dash of creativity, advancement staff were able to offer multiple virtual experiences for alumni. From decades playlists and slideshows, to roundtable discussions, cooking demonstrations, and a virtual 5K, Warriors had the opportunity to engage with the College and reconnect with classmates in a safe way. Additionally, an online Sheltering in Place Survival Guide was produced to offer alumni various resources such as Zoom backgrounds of campus locations, activity pages for young (and young-at-heart) Warriors, campus- favorite recipes like the famous peanut butter sauce, book recommendations, and more. The Common Hour series also was implemented to provide a broad and diverse range of educationally rich topics that promote thoughtfulness and dialogue among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents. I wear my mask to keep my students, myself, my colleagues, and my friends safe. - Amy Rogers ’92, Ph.D., associate professor of education RUNNING FOR WARRIORS Lycoming College’s Plan for the Resumption of Residential Education 14 LYCOMING COLLEGE 2020 PRESIDENT’S REPORT/FALL MAGAZINE
