2019 LYCOMING COLLEGE LC MAGAZINE SPRING

Lycoming College welcomed more than 1,100 alumni from across the country, as well as the families of current students, to campus in October to celebrate Homecoming & Family Weekend 2018. Attendees kicked off the weekend on Friday with dinner at a Food Truck Festival along College Place where a variety of vendors served tacos, grilled cheese, ice cream, and much more, while John Ravert ’72 shared music on his calliope. The Food Truck Festival was followed by the Annual Beer & Pretzel Tent where guests reconnected with friends while enjoying appetizers and alumni brews by Rusty Rail, Tröegs, and Yuengling, while the warmth from the bonfire on the Fultz Quad knocked the chill out of the autumn night air. Saturday morning attracted more than 250 alumni, family members, and students to the Shangraw Athletic Complex for the “OX” Roast Tailgate Lunch. The Lycoming Choir, joined by alumni and accompanied by a student and alumni pep band, sang the National Anthem before the Warriors stormed the football field. Fans cheered on the team to the sound of music performed by the pep band, culminating in a 52-0 victory against Alvernia University. Celebrating its 70th anniversary, Lambda Chi Alpha highlighted the afternoon with a marriage proposal by John Monkam ’16 to Whitney Rosenberger ’16. The pair were Homecoming King and Queen in 2016. The day ended with the Party at Pine Square in downtown Williamsport, featuring food and drinks at both the Brickyard Restaurant & Alehouse and the Stonehouse Wood Fired Pizza & Pasteria. The next Homecoming & Family Weekend is scheduled for Oct. 4-6, 2019, when the College will celebrate the completion of The Campaign for a Greater Lycoming and dedicate the Krapf Gateway Center on Saturday, Oct. 5.
