Marshall Welch III was appointed chair in 2017. Having been involved with start- up and emerging growth companies in a variety of industries, Welch was selected based on his success as an entrepreneur and for advising businesses domestically and around the world. “As chair, my number one objective is to create a world-class experience for students by joining the liberal arts with entrepreneurship,” says Welch. “I believe that the core knowledge of any entrepreneur is first their primary field of study at Lycoming. At Lycoming College, we challenge our students to think deeply and act boldly. By providing them with a 21st-century liberal arts and sciences education, we aim to equip our students with the skills necessary to fuel their passions and lead lives of meaning and purpose. al lege P The College is also committed to enhancing our academic programs in order to provide our students with the most competitive advantage in the workforce. We often hear of the American Dream and how our country was built on the spirit of entrepreneurship. That is why Lycoming is pleased to now offer entrepreneurial studies that encourage our students to turn their passions into professions. Lycoming’s new entrepreneurship minor is meant to enhance any major or primary field of study. By pursuing an entrepreneurship minor, students are pursuing their potential to create added value in this world. Whether their aspirations are to start their own business venture, work within an entrepreneurial organization, or simply contribute to any organization in a more innovative manner, the entrepreneurship minor gives students the skills to build long-term, sustainable success. 17 www.lycoming.edu
